Medical Cannabis Consultations

This is a new service CCS is offering and we are excited to now be able to meet the needs of our community and clients in this way. There is a great deal of research that supports the medicinal use of cannabis to relieve pain and treat several mental health symptoms that many experience. Our nurse practitioner on staff is registered and trained through the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) and is passionate about her work in this field. While we recognize this is not a treatment route that is viable or appropriate for all, it could be very helpful for some. If you feel you would benefit from the use of medical cannabis, please reach out to schedule a consultation.

To meet the criteria to receive a medical cannabis card you need one or more of the following as well as documentation from your provider:

  • Cachexia
  • Anorexia
  • Wasting syndrome
  • Severe or chronic pain
  • Severe nausea
  • Seizures
  • Glaucoma
  • Severe or persistent muscle spasms
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • or another chronic medical condition which is severe and for which other treatments have been ineffective.

**Please have all documentation ready and available for our provider to review at the time of your appointment**

To ensure the process is as fast and easy as possible, please register with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC) for your patient ID PRIOR to your appointment. This can be done by visiting the MMCC site linked here for your convenience.

If you think Medical Cannabis might be a fit for you, please view our providers profile – Christina Overton – FNP-C. Our Practice management team will walk you through the steps for registering and arranging your first appointment.

Why Work With Us?

We understand that there can be a great many barriers to therapy, several of which can be access to transportation and/or the ability to take time off of work to travel to the office for a session. CCS’ mission is to reduce barriers to mental health care, and one of the ways we do this is by offering telehealth services. Virtual therapy allows you to attend therapy from the comfort of your own safe environment, eliminates the worry of how to get to therapy and ensures the least amount of time disruption from your daily schedule. If you feel telehealth is right for you, please contact us to schedule an appointment.

Payments and Insurance

We accept most major insurance carriers: CareFirst Blue Cross / Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Credit/Debit Cards.  A sliding Scale fee may be extended based on financial need.  All other services rendered will be on a fee-for-service basis and payment is expected at the time of service. Telehealth covered by most insurance plans and regular plan copays apply.
